Wyoming region D Questions???Medicine bow
I am heading to WY for a mule deer hunt in a few weeks and was looking for some last minute advice. We are planning on camping off the beaten path--any recommendations on where? Also what quality deer should I expect to see--I shot a 22" 4x4 last year and was hoping to get something bigger--how realistic is this? Any other public land in the region that you would recommend?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You really can't go wrong just picking a spot on the map and heading there. I don't want to get too specific because that's where I'm going to be hunting, but I will tell you that my buddy spotted a 200+ class typical muley at the spot I'm going to be hunting last year, and he has a set of sheds from a non-typical that he found last year that are pretty doggone big. So if you put in the time and effort, I would say you can definately get a bigger deer than the 22" you shot last year. The trick is getting away from all the doggone Greenies and finding an area that's not too pressured. Easier said than done any more. Good luck!

I have not hunting in the area you are talking about. I normally hunt region W, formally region D. Region W is awesome. We killed monster mullies every trip. There is a place called Battle Mountain that has some killer bucks. The problem for me is I can't go back to that area because the Oct 1st season date does not work well with my work schedule. We are actully planning to hunt area 70, which is part of region D. Is that close to where you hunted? If so, any info?
