Pheasant hunting can be good here (good is a relative term). The walk in areas get pounded pretty hard, but for most of us that's all we have. I would suggest scouting them out. Once you find a good area, it can be good all year. Mid week can be a good time to go as most hunters are out on the weekends. For the most part, after Thanksgiving holiday you have a lot less hunters and the walk in areas get a rest. A lot of the fields are huge, don't over look the back corners, a lot of guys will walk the areas close to the road and back portions aren't hunted as much. Getting permission to hunt private land is always an option. Some peolple save the land for family and friends opening weekend or over Thnkasgiving and after that your chances get better. As always you will have peolpe say no, they have their reasons, but eventually you get onto some land. I know a lot of guys won't hunt Colorado anymore. Kansas and Nebraska aren't much further than the good Colorado areas and there area lot more birds. Good luck.

We have good wild bird #s here in Yuma/Washington counties. You can get permission from some landowners but first couple of weekends is not recommended. During the week is best because the neighborhood is pretty quiet. I do sell wild bird hunt if that interests you or anyone else for that matter. Our ground is some of the best around. Email me if yourinterested. [email protected] Website is jmcoutfitters.com

Gosh, I wouldnt mind it, but I am a city of boulder employee and they dont pay us. 150 may be reasonable, but too steep for me. I am gonna just try my hand at the walk in stuff. Thanks though, I will reccomend you if I can. EJ

Thats fine that you cannot afford my fees. The walk-in is gonna give you a hassle if you think that you can hunt it alone or have it to yourself. I can take video and broadcast what is taking place on the walk in ground. It is nuts. But at the same time if your patient and wait until December or January it could treat you pretty good. I just hate to see anyone waste time effort and gas to be disappointed. We do have good #s here but dont get Caught up in the rat race. I dont have a problem telling anyone tostay away until December. Your success rates will go up and you will see birds. I would always like to sell a hunt. But that is the truth for our area. There is a lot of landowners who dont want to give access. But patience is a virtue. This is the last area of Colorado that outfitting is not a priority. But it will soon happen. I have lost my honey hole for free quail hunting in Kansas. But am willing to pay for the quality of ground that it is. My view point is what I have to offer is not gonna be over run with people it will be managed to the effect that each and every person is gonna have a quality hunt. So in my mind you have to take into consideration the man hours I have spent myself into offering everyone a quality hunt. A quality hunt can only happen if for the most part that it has been managed. Not to many people for too many days. Just something to consider. Our hunts are on all private ground where the bird #s are great. This is the same ground I have hunted for 10 yrs. It cant be all bad.

Oh, dont misunderstand, I think you guys are running a decent gig. After I graduate form college in feb of 06 I am gonna be lookin to find a better paying job or a second one and then I will probably look you guys up next year. Regretfully, hunting is popular with wealthy folk which makes it very difficult for us poor folk. I miss the days of pheasant hunting in oklahoma, a ton of birds and pretty easy access. I would love to do what you do for a living! Thanks a bunch, EJ
