New Lab Puppy!
Hey guys I have a question,
Just purchased a new Lab Puppy. His name is "Goose" and he is a Ivory/White Lab Retriever/Pointer. I was wondering if there is a good book out there on how to train you puppy and gun dog. I know there have to be popular techniques or popular books that have recieved alot of attention. I wan't to teach him how to goose/duck/pheasant hunt. But for now I just want to condition him as a puppy and get him ready for training in the spring. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: New Lab Puppy!
I trained my lab 3.5 years ago and I am very pleased. I used a few different sources. Here is one of the few that I really like.
http://www.amazon.com/Water-Dog-Revolutionary-Training-Method/dp/0525247343
He also has books "Bird dog" and "Gun dog" that are great. He likes to train from 8 weeks of age. I think I bought them on barnes and nobel used bookssite for $8 each.
Work on the basics from the get go.
Sit and Stay are crucial.
Training takes time and lots of it.
Sometimes it will feel like 1 step forward and 2 steps back but in the end it is worth every minute.
Have a great time and keep you patience, --Millpond
