No I wasn't playing hockey.
Got to go Turkey hunting for the first time this year and got my bird this morning, second day of my season. There were about 5 other birds gobbling to my right the whole time this morning, where 2 of them were having a gobble contest. They were all approximently 200- 300 yards away, I would call and they would gobble back( I also had a hen clucking behind me about 50 yds). During one of my calling sequence's I had a bird gobble about 150 yds to my right. He then gobble back again about 5 min later when I called again. A couple minutes later I called again and then he was at about 75 yds or so. He was on the other side of a grove of pine trees so I could not see him. I then spoted him at the end of the road leading into the field where I was and he ran up the road and into the field. When he was within about 10 yds of the first decoy, he went into full strut. He then popped his head out from all of his feathers and he was introduced to some #5 shot. Bird down!
He weighed in at 21 lbs, 1 3/8" spurs and a 11 1/4" beard. What a rush, this is something that I will definetly do again several more times.
