Default Turkey Travel Patterens Question ?

When the days get longer do the turkeys change there patterens ?

Or do turkeys pretty much stick to the same rutein ?

Thank You

What would a day for a average turkey look like ?

What does a turkey's daily pattern look like.

I need an idea of just how to go about hunting turkeys.

I know theres a lot of turkey hunters that have studyed them a lot.

Thank You

Well the pattern I saw last weekend.

The Toms gobbled very little fromthe roost. Gathered their hens and just strutted behind until a hen was ready to breed to which the Tom did. Then the Tom followed the hens for the rest of the day. The hens after breeding went to areas to feed, some feilds soemn in woods at the different flocks I shadowed. They roamed a pretty wide area of woods then feeding in different fields. At times they ould loaf under sahdy areas even theough the temp was less than 50F.

late afternoon I would find them back out in fields feeding right up to Roost time. Right before they roost feeding got the heaviest.

Then off to the roost area..

Hoppe this helps.

I observed the same pattern as you stated JW. How do you hunt birds like this? I wouldn't think it would be to likely to call the Tom away from live hens. Do you just pray you can call the hens in close and let them bring him with them?

Jr,they will avoid the the darkness all possible, because of preditors.
So yes, time change would change thier roost and fly down time.
Pattern, depends on food source in area. You might locate thier roost
and the next day they will have moved to a further location.
If there are feeders in that location, the only thing that changes is the
fly-up and fly-down time. They can sense a storm comming and that
can change thier patterns.
I prefer the spring time change better.
