The theory is that nesting hens will not be disturbed by hunters in the woods/fields if hunting is stopped at noon or slightly after. Some research says this theory is not sound.

WI hunter here, 30 minutes b4 dawn, 30 min after sun-set, 4 day seasons. Only 1 turkey a year though, unless your one of the few that happens to get drawn for 2, but its pretty rare

In Wisconsin, we have 6 seperate seasons. You can only hunt til 5:00PM and it's a 5 day (Wednesday thru Friday) hunt. Monday and Tuesday are closed. We were able to vote last night at the Conservation Congress meeting on extending the time from 5:00PM to 20 min. after sunset. My county, St Croix, had 69 for the change and 43 against.
