Last day success
I managed to fill my second tag today on the last day of the season. Here are the stats.
18#
10.5" beard
1 1/8" spurs
I had set up on this bird on thursday and after he gobbled like crazy in the tree for an hour he shut up as soon as he hit the ground. This morning the wind was blowing and it was raining so I went to the same place hoping he would be roosted in the same spot.I don't think I could have heard a gobble more than a hundred yards away.Shortly after daylight the rain let up a little bit. When I heard the first gobble I gave him a few yelps increasing the volume until I was sure that he heard it.When I thought he was on the ground I gave a few yelps and clucks.I could tell he was on his way so I set the call down and got the gun ready. He came into sight at 30 yds but was headed to my left.I gave a yelp with a mouth call and he stopped in front of my barrel.Game over!!! Tom went for a ride in my truck today.I wil post some pics later.
