Best time for Turkeys?
Does weather have a huge affect on turkeys? In other words. Is it best to hunt in on a colder day? Will they not stir around much on a 80 degree day? I would think its kinda like deer hunting. Best to hunt after a hard day of raining. Will they turn off responding due to weather changes? Are you wasting you time hunting in rain?

From my experience, rain won't shut them up, a heavy rain could though. I think wind is more important of a factor than the rain. They get spooky when the wind picks up, and you might also need to call louder if the wind is picking up. They could turn off due to bad weather, but a period of bad weather followed by good weather could be a good time to hunt. Hope this helps

Thanks PA. From what I understand, gobblers spend all morning finding hens to mate, then feed at noon. Is this correct? In MD we can only hunt until 12PM. I got a nice gobbler at 11AM the other day. Seemed things settled down, and not much action at 11AM, then all the sudden, I heard a gobble and yelped them in. I am new to this but am hooked. It started getting hot, around 80 degrees by that time. Does heat affect thier movements much?

While that MAY hold some truth, I killed one this year at 6 a.m. that had fresh shoots and bugs in its crop. Apparently they are not like bucks in that they will feed regularly during their mating season.
