My goal is to get em to 25 yds,if he comes that close its over for him.Ive shot birds at 5 steps before but shooting an extra full choke like you say your really taking a chance on missing..

Guess I'll have to buy extra shells this year and head to the practice range to find out just how big, or small, the pattern is at 10 yards. (5, 20, etc.)

This is an interesting thread. One way to take care of the problem might be to go with something like the Traditions Over/Under turkey gun. You can use a tight turkey choke for longer shots and maybe something like a Modified for the close stuff. (You'd have to pattern to be sure.) I haven't looked at one of these close up. I would want to be able to mount a scope on it. Also, they have a single trigger and I think it would be better to have double triggers and instant access to either barrel without using a selector switch. I don't like to make any additonal sound if possible. Good Hunting!, - - Pointshoot
