How many turkey calls do you carry into the woods
I usually carry 9 turkey calls in my vest. How many do ya'll take with you?
One day they seem to like one call and the next day something totally different. On Saturday they went nuts over my FREAK frictionite call. On Sunday they would only respond to my Lohman mouth yelper and on Wednesday the only response I could get was on my aluminum friction call.
Same way with locator calls. I carry a crow, peacock (can make a coyote or woodpecker on this call too) and an owl call.

This is my first season, and I'm trying to keep things simple (and under budget). So let's see....
H.S. Strut Raspy Old Hen, Cutt'n 2.5, V-Max, Viper diaphragms
M.A.D. Calls Cherry Crow, Cherry Owl, 4x4 Mag Friction, Shipwreck 2 diaphrgm
Quaker Boy 10-Sider box

Dang that's a lot of calls. I've been applying for 4 years now and have got drawn 3 times, with two sucessful hunts. So I'm very new to the turkey game. I only carry 3 out with me, but normally only mainly use 1...try the second and just look at the 3rd. Looks like I need to try more.

4 diaphragms (Usually H.S. and Primos)
2 pot style (primos power crystal and Sla-Tek)
1 Box (The heartbreaker)
4-5 strikers (3 wood , 2 acrylic[rains alot in Washington])
Owl (Palmers hoot tube)
Crow Call (deep timber game calls)
triple threat locator or a lohman Goose call
thats about all the calls I carry - (I have a push-pull call and gobbler shaker but cant justify adding them to my vest)

2 box calls, 3-5 diaphragms, a stone slate and an aluminum "slate" plus strikers, a pair of fighting purr push-pin calls and (if I'm alone on private land) a gobbler shaker and locators--crow, owl, coyote, pileated woodpecker, & peacock (sometimes). In the rain I often bring a mystic slate and a frictionite slate instead of the aluminum and stone ones.

I carry more than I need... sla-tek, aluminum, slate, and now my new double sided Kaiser glass and slate, about 4-5 mouth calls, one box (with spares in the truck), crow call, and owl hooter.
