mock every call the hens do..also try cutting and exited yelping too good luck its hard to break them

Last year I had a calling contest with what I assumed was a dominant hen. I had fun working her up , we went at it for almost 10 minutes. She never showed and took the flock and the tom with her. Four hours later the tom was back in the same spot I had been calling from . I worked him up and added a notch to my gun.
I thought the tom must have came back for that "other" hen. Do they behave that way?
