Some Sophmore Questions????
Hey Yall Just thought id throw a few questions out there and see what i catch? First off this will be my second year chasin turkeys in Western CO. Last year all i had was a MAD 4x4 slate and a primos camp owl. Ive recently purchased a Primos double play and a browning turkey vest. I guess my first question would be can anyone recomend any other calls that are a have to? I know a reed call is probly in order but my skill has to catch up b4 i feel comfortable takin it out in the field. Second question is what do you all recommend for decoys? Im very undecided on this so any input is welcome? Ok there yall go lets see what ya got and thanks...

Well...For a call I would recommend Knight and Hale's Ol' Yeller. It is an excellent sounding call. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference on the decoys as long as they dont look really fake. If you have any other questions...just ask.

I would also like to throw my 2 cents in the ring. I have found that the Primos Power Crystal has an excellent sound for glass call. Experiement with different mouth calls and find one that works for you. Also, I have found a good box call can make all the difference in the world on days that the weather is not so cooperative. (Windy) Don't be afraid to try different calls and with their cost effectiveness, you won't sink a lot of money in the experimentation of these calls.

I would recomend the Cody friction calls, especially the cody "II" glass. It is affordable at about $35, and it sounds fantastic! This is the call I have used to bring in almost all my birds. You should be able to get one through cabelas or a local store. As for the decoys, my choice is the love triangle made by feather flex. Good luck, hope this helps!

I don't know what a Primos double play call is, but I would strongly recommend a box call of some sort for those western turkeys. I have Primos' Lil' Heartbreaker and a Quaker Boy Grand Old Master. You might look at them, or even a bigger boat paddle call. They're easy to learn to use, and will be helpful out west.
