Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Just wondering if anyone in here uses or has used a 10 ga for turkeys??? If so what did they think about it and what size shot worked best for you?? I am thinking about #6s

My friend uses a pump 10 gauge, and that has made me think maybe I should, too. Last spring he shot two toms with one shot, and said they both went down instantly, and hard. Then he shot another tom, similar result, down instantly, and hard.

The only downside I see is it weighs about 2-3 pounds more than my SBE 12 gauge, so it is a lot to lug if you're doing a lot of run and gun. But I think that in a day's turkey hunting, I probably sit at least twice as much as I stand or walk, so I'm leaning towards getting some kind of 10 gauge myself.

I've hunted with a 10 ga. (Remington SP-10) for the past few years. I recently switched to a Rhino choke and a Nitro 4x5x71/2 load. It is exceptional! Great pattern density with this combo! It does get heavy if you do much running and gunning but honestly I've never found it to be that big of a deal. Get a good sling and this won't be a factor.

I think this is the route I am going to go... I bought my 10 two years ago and love it... It is a 28" Browning BPS in Mossy Oak Break UP. I have killed a few deer with it and one turkey with it the first year I had it. I dont really count that turkey since he cam running by me at 20 yards and came to a stop when I whistled.. 1 shot he never even flinched.. although the load of #4 buckshot might have had somethign to do with that!!! I was just wondering how this gun did with turkey loads.. I think I will be toteing it this spring... Thanks guys.. If anyone else has any input I woudl still love to hear it!!!

I used to hunt with a Browning BPS 10 and killed a number of birds with it. I had a Hastings turkey choke in it, but I ended up finding a Rem 870 that shot a tigher pattern, so I set it aside...BT

Shot my first turkey with a double barrel 10ga. I'll never forget it, my buddy called in a gobbler, I was squatting on my knees and I accidentally fired both barrels at once, it knocked me over, but I tagged my first gobbler, had a sore shoulder but it was worth it. The ten gauage will put one down, and if you want double insurance, fire both barrels!

My uncle uses a H&R single shot 10 gauge, 3" #5. 12 gauge 3 inch is just as good IMO.
