Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Stoeger??

I've got a buddy who is looking to buy a new turkey gun and is looking at the Stoeger 2000. Anybody got any information on this gun?

you can go to the stoeger web site.... just do a search for it, and it will take you directly there. You can look at specs and talk in their forum.

Gobbling Buck,

I've got one, bought it back in Sept. 03. Have been using it for duck hunting this season and love it so for. I've shot both 2 3/4 and 3 inch mags. in it and so far, it'll spit em out as fast as you can pull the trigger. Since buying mine and having good luck with it, 6 of my friends have bought them. I like to think of them as a poor mans' benelli, which I am. It comes with 5 choke tubes. I paid $406.00 taxes and all. My buddies got their at Dicks' cheaper than I did, about $389.00 total.

I plan on trying it this turkey season.

Did you get an extended tube choke with your Stoeger? I guess it is a turkey choke. Will it handle hevi-shot?

Hawgnman,

No I didn't get an extended choke tube with it, but based on the shot pattern with the full choke tube, testing with No. 5 & 6 shots, I believe it will do well for turkey. I see no reason hevi-shot wouldn't work well, probably better than the steel I've been using. The price is ridiculous for hevi-shot. Of course a box of hevi shot would last me a long time if used strictly for hunting and no practice shots.
