Bb,once again very valid informative points.I have harvested some real limbhangers do to the fact I got a fix on exactly where they were at due to there own strutting activity.I have had countless guys tell me I cant hear a bird drumming over a hundred yards.I hunt alot of open woods and I got news for ya I can, the key is knowing what to listen for in those certain situations. If there are hens present he may not gobble but he is making noise because I' ll garuntee he' s in full strut!!

since hearing this statement,i have found it to be the single most important factor on setting on a bird.while other factors might cause a bird to temporarily change his direction,if you are set up on the west side you will be successful more times than not.it works for me!
