Here's a simple quick way.We only eat the breast meat so all I do is slice the skin down the breast.Push the skin aside and usin a flexable knife(a fillet knife works real well)run the blade right down the breast bone pullin the meat away from the bone as you cut. Then do the other side the same way.No guttin, nopluckin,no skinnin you don't even have to clean out the craw. That's it.If you're goin to deep fry i would recomend pluckin.I hate doin that.

jalvja: I hate to tell you but you are throwing away some of the best eating you can get.
don't waste any part of your bird,it is great to cook in the crockpot and fix with rice and dressing.
if you need the recicpet, let me know.man it is sooooo gooood.
I'm not knotting you or your way,it's just a lot of turkey hunters don't know what they are missing.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

And all this time I've been dressing mine in the little striped overalls with a tiny engineer's cap.

Field dressing is easy. Lay the bird on it's back, tail end towards you. Run your finger along the mid-line of the breast towards the tail. Once you get to the end of the breast (you'll feel it), pluck the feathers between the legs, and the end of the breast the anus. Then make a shallow slit, from the inside of one thigh to the other, above the anus and below the end (bottom) of the breast. Be careful to avoid cutting the entrails, and part the skin. Reach in and pull out the inards(they may be very warm). Also take care to avoid rupturing the intestines near the anus until the very last. My friend usually pushes out waste from the end of the intestines near the anus before cutting the intestine free. Make sure you get all the lungs out. The esophagous mis a bit tough to remove by simply pulling. You may have to reach in and carefully cut as much as you can. Once a friend told me that he stuffed a cold beer in the cavity to speed the cooling process once they got back to camp.

Great info Joe, but tell your friend to put a cold can of Pepsi inside a bird to cool it. Why on Earth waste a beer?
