Here's where you should be able to find out what you need.

Go out and listen to real live birds. Don't call too much.

I started by watching and listening to live birds on a nearby farm. I used to stand inside a machine shed and call different ways until I got the gobblers stirred up. Then I spent time sneaking around roosting areas listening to wild turkeys and moving amongst them without spooking them. I just tried to copy their sounds. I have no idea or care what the calls mean to the birds, it's what the sounds mean to me that counts. When I want them to come they come, and thats all I know about turkey calling. That, and that a particular box call and my own voice are the only two calls I can make work. I have tried other calls but have no confidence with them. My Lynche's World Champion Box Call is the one call that works for me. I am literally deaf in one ear but I can still hear the difference. My box call was purchased in 1983 and has helped me kill many birds, and called many birds for first time hunters too.
The last guy I actually called for, who didn't want to try himself, showed up to meet me, carrying a camo single shot 10 guage, purple corduroy pants and a black coat, with no head net or gloves. I figured were screwed, but I'll try, and explain later what tomorrows dress code is. We left the truck at nearly full light, cause the guy shoed up late too. Got into position quickly and I test called, got an immediate gobble and within a minute we had one coming on the run. I had asked the guy to keep his pants hidden, and to keep his collar up and peek around it, not stare at the turkey and keep his hands out of sight.
Long story shortened, the bird approached too close, strutted a circle with his wing tips touching my feet and the clients back. He was facing the wrong way and frozen. When the turkey gobbled it was LOUD at two feet! The turkey got suspicious and started moving away. I whispered instructions, turn around quickly and aim where I'm pointing, now! The guy spun in place and aimed, the turkey's head moved from behind a tree, BANG! Great hunt! It was cold rainy and very windy so we returned to the truck. We had been out of the truck 20 minutes. Some days are perfect.

On Turkey Tips and Tehcniques forum - fpound on main page above the Contest Forum

1. Guide to Pot calls - good read if you are looking for a call
2. How to Condition calls - anotehr good read.

CDs - Monarch of the Spring Turkey Woods - a NWTF CD on nothing but real voices of hens and Toms in Spring calling. A great CD and I have yet to wear it out!

Real Voice of the Wild Turkey
CFs by Lovette Williams where you hear the real voice of the wild turkey and then what tha sound means to the wild turkey.

Adive for someone just starting out - Box call or Pot Call and use the "Yelp" only.

Master the Yelp (real easy to do even a Caveman can do it! ) then learn when to yelp (which is sofr and quiet - don't over call) and you will kill birds.
