Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Great article on how turkey season dates are set!

Default Great article on how turkey season dates are set!

If you've ever wondered why your season dates are set like they are, this article explains in perfectly. This info is for my state of SC so the dates will probably differ for you fellas farther north. This is a great read.

That was a great article. Thanks! I hunt just west of Augusta so the info. is pertinent to my area and I found the peak gobbling chart esp. interesting. I have great success in late April and on into May. It's actually kind of a secret as to how good the hunting can be late in the season in my area. Everybody gets discouraged by the "henned up bird" syndrome at the beginning of the season through the middle of April and it works out great for those of us that continue to hunt the late season.

Yeah I thought that article was full of great info as well. I learned a lot from it. How long is your season open in GA?

Our season here in SC opens April 1 and runs through May 1. A few counties, on private land, open on March 15th.

According to that chart I would say you're season would be best Apr. 15- May 15

I would agree but when I poked around on the SCDNR website some more I found some other graphs/info. Between 60-70% of all birds killed, were killed in the first week of the season. April 1-7. I would contribute that to lack of hunting pressure.
