RE: Raspy Calls?
I chase a lot of Merriams, matter of fact that is mostly what I hunt. And I prefer a raspy call. I have had better success with a raspy call than any other actually. Call of choice for me is a slate with cherry wood sound board, custom made.

First thing in the morning i will use a higher pitch. but as the day progresses and bird start to clump up i go strictly to the raspy. or if it is later in the breeding i will use raspy only.

RE: Raspy Calls?
our birds are raspy and most of the production calls are clear/hi pitched so most of the hunters are the same way. i like to get custom calls so i can sound different then the other hunters that blow on it every 5 minutes....tony

Not sure where in NE you are, but I have plans in the works to be chasing turkey in your parts Spring 2010, maybe even a 2 state swing with SD.
