RE: Which shell brands
Like Mr. Longbeard, I' ve got Nitro' s and Rem Hevi to pattern this year. Winchesters have been the best for me, but Federal did almost as good. It' s a long process to try them all and different chokes too..... I still have a lot to try.

I use Winchester HV 1 3/4 oz. # 5' s out of my Rem. 870. Don' t see any need to change this year. I have also used Remington turkey loads with good success also.

Have had good success with winchester #6 hv' s (3" & 3.5" ). both in my remington 870 & 11-87. i plan on using the remington hevishot this season. that is if they pattern superior to the winchesters.

Like Ken and some of the others have mentioned, Winchester 3" HV 1 3/4oz of #5' s were the best I' ve found so far, until trying that Remington 3" 1 1/2oz #5' s load of their new hevishot load. This one patterned better than the Winchester out of my gun while using that Tru-Glo choke as well. New this year is the Nitro hevishot turkey loads, and I have recently picked some of these up along with a new Rhino choke. So I have to re-pattern again using the Tru-Glo and the Rhino choke to see first hand for myself what it the best for this gun. This constant search for the ultimate load/choke is sort of like looking for the " Holy Grail" in the turkey fraternity!! LOL!!! Hopefully this will finally be the quests end!!

Winchester Supremes were the best factory load out of my BPS and my 870. But the Nitro ammo is really amazing out of my Browning..... I have not tried the Nitro' s in the 870......but I may have to experiment with it a little in the coming weeks!!
