May 5. I screwed up, this was the guaranteed hunt. I'm some what new to this and didnt realize that I could put in for the earlier hunt as 1st choice, and the guaranteed hunt 2nd. Oh well, live and learn. Still drivin me bonkers watching these guys strut back and forth every other day! Its hard to go out back and pattern the shotgun when they are stuttin in the shooting lane!

Johnny, being that I hunt somewhat near you (Hemlock), I can say from my experience that you do have a little more luck calling them in during the 1st season. Seems like the later it gets, the less vocal they are and it kinda makes it tough. Either way, good luck to ya. Hope ya crank one of those big ol' toms.

Thanks kds! I just moved to this house last sep/oct, and have watched these turkeys quite a bit. I think I can pattern them out enough to get a good tom this year.

Oh ya youll be fine. Actually what I meant by saying it gets harder later in the season, I meant like probably the second half of May. Who knows, you might even end up having a great time of year, all dependsI guess. One year I saw a ton more turkeys during May then I did in April.
