Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Can ya guess what this is ?

Not in Louisiana, unless you want to pay a bundle in fines.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL— Charles Alvin Smith, 25, of the 8500 block of 95th Court, spent most of Thursday in the Indian River County Jail on a charge of illegal possession of wild turkey.
His co-worker, 23-year-old Justin McCall, address not given, didn’t go to jail, reports show, but will have to appear in court on the same charge.
Wildlife Officer Jack Donaldson, with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, is accusing Smith of using a rifle to shoot a hen turkey on private property north of State Road 60 in the western part of the county.
Fall turkey season doesn’t start until Nov. 10, records show. And there’s no game that can be hunted legally by rifle now anyway, in bow-hunting season, commission spokeswoman Joy Hill said Friday.
Further, she said, only male turkeys — or females with beards — can be taken in season.

EDIT: Adrian knows where this is at!

I try to not kill lesbian turkeys here in Vt. They do have lots of muscular dark breast meat since they have superior upper body strength.

Yep, the old bearded hen!! I've seen a bunch of them as well over the years, but still can't bring myself to shoot one though. Something about the spurs and awesome beards on the gobblers makes me pass every single time.
