Shotgun
I own a Remington 11-87 SPS SUPER MAGNUM with a 28" barrel. I have used this shotgun for waterfowl and turkey, I am curious to find out if there is an advantage to purchasing a shotgun specifically for turkey. I have been told some hunters prefer a shotgun with a shorter barrel length between the range of 21" - 23".
I am considering the following two shotguns:
* 11-87 SPS-T SUPER MAG CAMO RS/TG (23 inch barrel turkey super full choke)
* 11-87 SPS-T CAMO RS/TG (21 inch Rem Choke Barrel)- can be used as a deer gun also.
Anys suggestions on a choke to marry up to my Remington shotgun.
I appreciate everyone's input and have a great New Year!

Billy, if "I" were to get a brand spankin' new gun specifically set-up just for turkey hunting, this is the one I'd get!! Mainly because you can scope it!! I never seen a shotgun shoot right to the point of aim yet!! They are always either high, low, left, or right of where your aiming at!! Problem is that Remington listed it in there 2002 catalog, but as of yet NO sporting good's store ever got one in to actuall check out!! Remington does that all the time, they check out the public demand for the gun before they actually start making them!! Make sure to check out this model first before you buy!! I had a Tru-Glo strutstopper choke sized .665 in my 11-87 and it shot great!!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: Shotgun
Billy, the main reason for having a turkey specific gun to me is to be able to put a scope on it and also the shorter barrel is easier to maneuver in the turkey woods. I have an 870 SPS-T with the 21" barrel and I had the gun drilled and tapped for a scope. I use a Kick's Gobblin' Thunder choke tube in .665 constriction. It will pattern excellent with about any load of #5's from Win. or Rem., I used Win. Hi-Velocity #5's last spring. With a turkey gun from Remington and a .665 choke, you need not look any further for a turkey gun that will last you many springs in the turkey woods.
