Default Winchester Model 1300, NWTF Short Turkey

Does anybody have any experience with this gun. How does it pattern? An 18" barrel is seems short. What is the price in your area?

Thanks!

My advisor picked one up last season. Throws 4's out to 50 yards in a 6 inch ring. Not much kick (until you put on the sabot choke and throw the 3 inch magnum slugs in the chamber--OUCH ).

His is the all black with the synthetic stock model. Came with (I think...) a 1X4 Bushnell scope. Second hand he paid $250 from a gun shop. He wears glasses and finds the scope to be cumbersome for birds, so he's switching over to either Tru-glo or Hi-viz optics or a red-dot scope for this Spring.

I've shot it and found it to be a smooth shooting, very accurate gun. My only complaint was even with the synthetics I found it a little heavy, but I use a bolt-action which is lighter. I suggested he install a sling---we have some new property where we'll be running&gunning come turkey season.

If the price is right, definitely consider buying.

sarmst100, I would stick with th 22" barrel length if going strictly with a turkey gun. The 18" is a little short in my opinon. Did you look at the Black shadow like Strut&Rut mentioned? They make this model with a cantileverd 22" smooth barrel for scope mounting and screw-in chokes. Just the ticket for a super turkey gun, scoped and with one of those custom turkey chokes!!!

I own a Model 1300 Black shadow with the 22" barrel and absolutely love it. It didn't come with cantaleaver scope mount but it came already drilled and tapped for a scope. I don't know about that other fella who said he thought it was heavy. It is by far the lightest gun it my 30some odd gun collection. You can't beat the price. I got mine on sale last year for $215 an absolute steal but I do know that the regular price is very affordable. Good luck and shoot straight.

I appreciate others hunters opinions. Some of them make sense.
I wanted a turkey gun that was short , light and easy to handle and got it when I bought a short turkey 1300 last winter.
I understand all the hoopla about it being too short but I like to call my birds in and I feel confident out to 30 yards.
It did roll a 21 pounda heah in New Hampsha last yeah.( at 24 yards)
