RE: freakin rain
Hey TEmbry15,
I was a news videographer for a local TV station before I switched over to Promotions/Creative Services side of the business and rain for us was always an issue for professional cameras we used in the field. Our News Director bought us all fancy $500 rain wear for the camera that were a pain in the ass to put over the camerabut after about 2 years of normal abuse they went to the crapper.
Us Photogs came up with an inexpensive and easier rain wear for the cameras. Duct Tape andGarbage Bags! We wouldput the camera in the bag so that the opening of the bag is base/bottom of the camera and with our fingers poke and stretch holes for the camera lens and view finder...If the wind and rain was extra bad (downpour-monsoon like)we would tape the bag around the two holes we made to the outside of the lens and viewfinder. The opeining of the bag at the bottom of the camera provided us enough ascess to shoulder mount it and put our hand up to the zoom control. If we needin to exchange tape or new battery we would simply lift the bag up and make the change. Best part was that after we were done we simply throw it away...total est cost $3 each time. With the smaller camcorders out there for consumers you could probably get away with a kitchen bag or those cheapy plastic bags you get from stores.
Don't give up hope - "McGyvering" everyday items to suit your needs is half the fun of thinking outside the box.
Good Luck on the Hunting I hope the weather doesn't bother you too much!
