It's not a real good idea to go and call birds before season starts, but thereare so many Rios in some places in south Texas it probably doesn't matter. If I want to hear one gobble before season, I will go out before daylight and owl hoot.

no well this one property only is 20 acres and i was just walkin around callin with the crow call and i heard him gobble and me if i aint going to be able to mess around with them for another omnth in a half i had to take the oppertunity but even then you could tell it was the beggining of the spring cus he wouldnt really gobble as much as others would either that or he was a old turkey all ready...but i am postin the video on here in a couple of minutes....i have me callin with a messed up slate call that i hardly use because i always use mouth calls [lost them]the slate call had oil on it and it was hard to roughen up....but anyways feel free on giving me pointers......bad or good it dont matter i want to learn

Well at least he's gobbling. The turks over here have been on the silent side. I think it's the cold snap that shut them up or pushed themto loweraltitudes. There's alot ofsnow on Mauna Kea now.

You better leave that turkey alone. From your video, you act like you are actually trying to call him in. This may come back to bite you. You are young and probably excited to hear him gobble, but you need to back off a little. You may not have any problem getting him, but then again. I get excited hearing them gobble also, but I don't dare try to call them in before season. Like I said earlier, If I want to tryand strike up a gobble before season starts, I will use a locator call. Probably not too many Barred Owls where you are. Try a coyote call. That will get them gobbling in south Texas. At least you are out there having fun.
