Default turkey chokes?

I have a Beretta AL390. It is a NWTF gun. It came with 4 chokes. The 3 usual chokes plus an extended turkey choke. It really didn't pattern as well at longer ranges as I thought it should. I have tried different loads as well as changing from the extended full to the regular full. The thing that gets me is that there isn't much difference between the pattern with the extended or the regular full. I am considering purchasing one of the speciality ported chokes made specifically for turkeys. I was just wondering if any of you use these chokes and if they will make enough difference to justify the price?

I have a Bennelli Nova and use a True Glow ported choke shooting 3.5 #5 shot. This combo works well for me but I had to experiment with loads and chokes to get the best result. I think the ported chokes work best but I tried more than one before I found one that worked really well. The problem is that can get expensive if you don't have someone who has the same gun and will let you try their choke. Even then you will have to experiment whith shot and loads to see what works best with your set up. Perhaps you can find a gun smith or retailer in your area that will let you try a couple of chokes until you find the right one. Good Luck

Thanks for the information. I just recently purchcased the exact same gun. I hope to be a first time turkey hunter if my number is drawn in the Wisconsin Lottery. I'm sure I'll make a few mistakes, but I'm willing to learn. Any additional information is much appreciation. Hope I can return the favor someday.
