preparing tail, feet, & beard
what do people find is the best way to preserve the tail, feet, & beard. here is what I have done in the past and heard:
for the feet, I have just let them dry naturally (worked good once, poorly another time)
I tried to do a tail and wing before, but they got maggots and I through them out
I know I need to get as much flesh off them, but then what? (use simple salt orspecial product to dry them). should tehy be wrapped in something to keep the flies (maggots) off? can they be put in a fridge to keep maggot free.
what should I do. Thanks in advance for any help

RE: preparing tail, feet, & beard
i've had good luck using borax. you'll find it in the laundry section at the store. i place the tip of the beard in a small amount of borax until it is nice and dry. i also remove as much flesh from the tail as possible. i scrap it down to the feather quills then put a bunch of borax on it and staple it spread out on my back board. haven't had any problems with flys or maggots and they seem to dry very quickly. for the spurs, i string them on some plastic duck decoy line and hang them on a sunny side of a fence or building and let them dry. takes a while but works well. good luck
