Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

My father in law had one for a while. I think they would make great turkey guns. I dont know why the 835 would be better, they take the same chokes so they should pattern the same. You cant shoot 2 3/4 inch shells out of it but who cares it's a turkey gun?

The 935 is perhaps BETTER than the 835 simply because of one reason. The auto action reduces recoil, which the 835 has in SPADES with fullboat loads!!! The 935 has the same backboring (nearly 10ga) as the 835 and uses the same loads and tubes. I shoot a 835 simply because I've had it for 15 years. If I were buying new I would get a 935. One of my guys at work (I work for a hunting/fishing shop who is a Rhino/Nitro dealer) patterned several shotguns a couple of weeks ago (all with Rhino tubes and Nitro loads) and his own 935 put 400-415 pellets in a 12" circle at 40yds. That was with both the Rhino .680 and straight 7 Nitros and also with a .695 with the 4x5x7 triplex Nitros. In fact with that exact gun, and the 680/7 setup lastyear he killed a bird at 73 yards (laser rangefinder verified btw). There was also a 10ga BPS with a 720 Rhino and both the 7s and triplex Nitros (2.5oz loads) it put 370-380 pellets in the same 12" targets at the same distance.

I simply believe the 835/935s to be the best thing going for turkeys if you spend the money on the loads, tubes and a quality scope. And for the prices they go for, you can certainly afford to go "all the way"!

Haven't really shot mine enough YET,but the first turkey I shot at 30 yards is in my freezer. All the pellets were in the head and neck. The recoil is not to bad with 31/2 in shells.

Red why do you all shoot at a 12 inch circle, when 10 seems to be the standard. At least that is what rhino uses.

I purchased a 935 last year and I really liked it. Since I'm with Knight and Hale, I had to get the gun in mossy oak break up. The camo that comes on this gun is terrible. It almost glows WHITE! If you get this gun get a darker type camo. I love mossy oak break up, but the pattern that comes specifically with the 935 is done terribly wrong. They have applied way to much white and not enough dark paint. All in all, this gun does shoot great patterns. I would recommend a MAD calls choke for Hevi-weight shot and shoot the Federal brand flight control # 7 hevi shot. This load shoots like # 5 and can pattern awesome! Hope this helps. Oh, and now I'm shooting a Browning Gold NWTF gun. I got rid of the 935 because of the camo pattern, but if it didn't have the light camo problem then I would still be shooting it! Take care and GOD bless!

I tried to find a picture of the mossberg 935 in mossy oak break up. This is the best one I could find. Look at how white the gun looks. If you were to lay it on the ground, it pretty much glows! Good luck with gun searching!

Turkeystalker the 12" circle isn't what we chose, it is what size circle was on the Dick Kirby turkey targets we used and sell. I will have to check but I believe most of the other targets on the market at 12" as well (Primos, HS). Ray uses 10" @ 40yds because he can, most others would be embarrassed if they had to rely on 10" targets. With Rhino/Nitro combos on 10" targets at 40yds Ray lists 230-270 pelletsin that circle.

But even that doesn't tell the whole story. Once I get a shotgun sighted in I like to shoot a 12oz beverage can and shoot them at 60yds to "tell teh tale". My 835 with a .695 Rhino and 4x5x7 Nitros I put 22 pellets in a 12oz Coors can at 60yds lastyear. Earlier this week I rigged my brother-in-law up with a 835 and the same setup as mine. He shot a 12oz can @ 40yds and just destroyed it. I'll try to get a pic of it, I carried it too the shop and have it on the counter with our other targets/patterns. I tried to count them this morning but had trouble telling where multiple 7s went through as opposed to were some of the holes 4s or 5s? Anyway the holes in the facing side of the can nears 100. It blew the can (empty by the way) about 15' behind the box it was sitting on so it hit it VERY hard.

These ol Mossbergs are simply amazing turkey guns. As for my pick for a 3.5" waterfowl gun, I would go with a Extrema II first with a SBE II being my second pick. But we sell plain synthetic black 935s for $399.99 and the same 835s for $249.99. You WON'T beat them for turkey guns, but the fact that they are so cheap makes the deal that much sweeter!!!
