Update: scared gob & will he notice my blind!!!
My two previous posts discussed the scared gobbler and a question about putting a pop up in the field, wondering if they'd notice.
Well, regarding the scared gobbler. there are always a lot of variables, so who knows, but he definately didn't show up. I sat patiently from early dark until 11am. Believe me, that's a long morning. I figured he'd eventually show up b/c the spot is a food plot, and they always show up. Guess i scared him pretty good.
second, the pop up raises doubt in my mind about using it in an open field. though many of you said they won't notice, I have a strong sense that they did. The birds flew down and showed serious concern about coming to the foodplot. I watched them from my blind. they were 200 yds away, and as much as they wanted to come, they wouldn't. I waited for an hour to see if they were just warming up to the idea, but no luck. I took the blind down and moved into heavy cover on the edge of the foodplot. within 10 min, i had hens move in. later, 2 jakes. maybe the difference here is, they use this same foodplot so often that they know the difference, vs. any ordinary spot.
