CALL ?
Well I picked up a new box call (Primos clasic), and a mouth call (dont know the brand but it is called the Single D).
Here is my question, is it ok that these two calls dont sound alike. The dox call is alittle lower the the mouth call and neither of them sound like the slate calls I tried. Is this ok, do all calls sound different?
Also can I use the box call to Purr, I could realypurr well on the slate call but am having a hard time doing it on the box call. Also can I use the mouth call to purr, I have the cuts and clucks down prittygood.
Thanks for any help
I am so ready for spring.

RE: CALL ?
Sure it's o.k. that all the calls don't sound the same, the aren't suppose to. Live turkeys all sound a little different also(young hens, old hens, jakes, mature toms) all have higher and lower pitched vocalizations. I in fact like several different sounding calls, you never know which call they might respond to on any particular day, therefore it is always good to try several and see which call gets the birds fired up. I also have found the slate type calls make the nicest sounding purrs IMO, but if I could I would like to learn to purr with my mouth calls, especially when the birds are in close so both hands are free and also no movement. The single D call is made by H.S. Strut, they make great calls, I especially like their Raspy Old Hen and Cuttin 2.5 calls. Good Luck, hope I was of some help.

RE: CALL ?
I agree all turkeys do not sound alike. Last year one day I was calling with mouth and friction calls and no response, so I pulled my hen wingbone call and gave a couple yelps and 2 toms started gobbling like crazy and then they responded to my mouth call. You never know. Also I find a good time to practice your mouth calls is when driving alone somewhere.
