late season tags
I drew a late season tag on public land here in Illinois. Not exactly the week that I wanted, but I will have to make the best of it. So what tips do any of you have in order to help me score with these kind of odds?

RE: late season tags
We've had good luck in the later seasons by not calling much, maybe a cluck or two or just one series of yelps at dawn to let them know you're there. Leave the jake decoy at home. They've been jaked at a lot by then. I may use a hen decoy, but then will call even less. If you're set up in a spot you know they are going to show up. don't call at all.

The late season is the only time I hunt. Kinda like the rut. You can have first pics over the deerm or wait for the rut. The turkey's are very aggressive and seem to break away from groups easier.

In the late season I've almost experienced more gobbling than earlier in the year but they seem to shut up sooner in the day and you wont hear much from them till evening. Call sparingly and you should have good luck, just be watching, they like to come in silently a lot of times later in the year. Good luck and hope you get yours!!
