Another reason not to encourage anyone to stalk turkeys.

I don't hunt PA, so I don't know for sure, but don't they have a "bearded turkey" rule. The bird has to be bearded in order to be legal?? I know Md does, and yet guys still mistakenly shoot other hunters as turkeys. How can this be??? Obviously, these slobs aren't taking the time to identify that their "bird" is legal. The truly sad part is that it is guys like these that give ALL of us a bad name.

I hope your buddy recovers fully from this tragedy and can chase the birds this fall.

How dumb can you be. Thinking a orange hat was a turkey?!?!
Let me tell you, several years ago I was hunting private land in Pa with a buddy. We were sitting togerther along a rock wall over looking a large field. we see another hunting walkinto the filed about 200 yds away, he works his way over to a big pine inthe bottom of the field and sits down on a milk create. Now this is rifle season (deer) and all 3 of us had ORANGE on. After several waves and inching our way out into the open to let him know we are out in front of him with no response we decided to walk down to him. When we got there he said he didn't see us and that he is color blind and Orange looks like Brown to him anyway! Can you believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRUE STORY

You want to hear something sad. I know of a guy who thinks the only reason the game commision has a law that you have to wear orange is so they can fine you for not wearing it! He needs a reality check or he will be the next person to be shot.

don't know how you could enforce it, but i'd like to see stalking a turkey outlawed. i was hit on the right side of my body by a guy that was stalking trying to get a shot at the turkey i was working. only thing that saved me was safety glass in my glasses and the fact that he took the shot at over 50 yds.[:@] i think i broke him of the habit, at least. talked to him like a yard dog. the fact that a mad 6-2, 280 pounder, who was so mad he was shaking, screaming at him, nose to nose, while still holding his shotgun may have made an impact also!!

[:@] i don't see how anyone could be sooooooo ignorant...especially someone who is out there calling themselves a hunter....a real hunter should know their target and WHAT IS BEYOND!!!

huntnma and i had called in a hunter one morning who was out stalkin' turkeys....when he bent down to take aim at our hen decoy we both FREAKED....things could have gotten real ugly that day....thankfully we had our orange vests with us.
ever since then i stay put all but for walkin' in and walkin' out....both not during huntin' hours.
