Cold Weather
Does the cold weather affect a camera in the long run? I just bought a Stealth Came 230ir this last spring and it worked well for me all summer. My qustion is if i put this camera back out this weekend and keep it out all winter long, will it affect the camera?? I know the battery life is short, but will it hurt the pic quality? I live in Wisconsin and this time of year the lows are hitting single digits, and it will only get colder when January comes!! Should I put my camera out or wait till March!!

Depends. Camera models vary in operating temps. As long as you stay within their paramaters it should be ok. You are right it does affect the batteries. I read somewhere that someone said that the lithiums were handling the cold weather better than the alkalines........

My cameras seem to work fine in cold weather and the battery life shortens a little but I use rechargeable batteries so it is still good. I do get pics like this though in cold weather. My lenses tend to fog over in colder weather.

RE: Cold Weather
Here's some cold weather Wisconsin pics from my Scoutguard 550. It's been out for about 6 weeks and still shows 3/4 battery life, we've been in the single digits quite a few times already, not to mention rain/sleet/and snow. These seem to be great little cameras, and I'm having a blast with it.
