Battery life on the D40
Im trying to make a choice on atrail cam and the D40 is one im considering.
How is the battery life?
How many pics do you get before they have to be recharged/replaced?
How does it do in cold temps?
The weather here stays pretty moderate...usually above 20* all winter so thats not a huge issue
Thanks for any help

RE: Battery life on the D40
the d40 is getting mixed reviews.my battery life is around 3 weeks
taking 2 to 3000 pics in coooold weather using duracell batts. the d40
has a place to plug in an external rechargeable/solar unit.it's available from MOULTRIE. mine has worked great in the cold until a few days ago after a long rain and temp changes.warmed it up and its okay now.MOULTRIE does not
recomend using cams in freezing temps !!! cold temps and night time shots[flash] will always shorten battery life.it's to be expected.you would be better off using rechargable d-cells if you rely only on the internal batteries.will save you money in the long run.
hope this helped.also look through some past posts,it has been discussed here
recently.i have some pics posted too.look under DK's yote cam.

RE: Battery life on the D40
Mine has taken less pictures ( about 300 ) but it was over a 4 month period last year and was still taking pictures in Dec . of last year . Over a 9 month period of time I changed the batteries twice , the last set is still in it ready to go back out this weekend .
