RE: Are you ready?
Its rare that I'm not ready - I'm a planner.
My second large load of hunting clothes is on the line right now. This weekend I go to put up deer stands and in two weeks I will be deer hunting for the first time with a longbow. THAT I might not be completely ready for , but gotta go for the first time, make the first shot and kill the first animal sometimes I guess .....

Question for you all. Do you wash your huntin duds in a detergent that doesn't add brighteners (phospherous)? Ever since I saw a program on the Discovery channel about deer being able to see reflected ultra violet light, I've been using a soap that doesn't contain the brighteners. Been doing it for so long that I have absolutely no idea if it really makes a difference or not, lol.
Anyway, our season is pretty much over here. Well, except for hogs, which are year round. As are ground squirrels and stumps.

Well, got the big stuff in order. Threw up the wall tent a few days ago to check for tears, got a new 90 elbow for the wood stove that goes in it. Probably pick up my moose & elk tags in the next couple of days. Huntin' clothes are packed, weapons ready to go and have 9 days to get the little stuff together. Swamp donkeys beware!

RE: Are you ready?
I don't hunt far from home being fortunate enough to live in the country but I still carry a small rucksack. Just went over the inventory of the items I usually carry. My number one item is a small first aid kit. Extra socks, jacket. Magnesium/flint striker. Film roll carrier filled with drier lint for tinder. An extra 6" file. A backup knife. Power bars and a water bottle. I'm making a Dean Torges tree seat this weekend and hope it fits in my ruck with the rest of my must haves. I'm ready to hunt come Oct. 5th. I'm hoping the Falcon and I will make a nice kill because my venison supply is exhausted! Have been shooting with my 5 year old son. He's too young to hunt of course but he and his new Black Rhino longbow and wood arrows just won't quit! The Gold Tips and Falcon are tuned and anxiously awaiting the season. Good luck to everyone and be safe.
