Default Finally ! A good set of wood shafts ! (pic)

I think I finally did it ! I made a set of wood shafts that are straight, fly well, close ot the right spine and pretty.

I used shafts from Orgeon Mtn Arrows, white POC shafts in 70# spint cut to 28 1/2". I dipped them 4 times in Gasket Laquer (twice from each direction) and then "capped" them 12" from the nock with white GL. I did simple cresting with an Arrow Specialties crester, laquer paints and fletched with some really nice spliced feathers in red/white and blue.

I have a big KS bowhunt in 3 1/2 weeks ......... I'll take carbons too but these will be my primary hunting shafts. I made up some to target shoot ....... and these are my hunting shafts.

Using high quality shafts made the difference. Also the white GL is SO much easier to use for a crown before cresting.

Very nice Stealthy. Did you splice the feathers yourself? You'll be the talk of the deer woods now.

KIP - No, thats one thing I haven't mastered (splicing feathers )

I sent a gal several hundred natural barred turkey feathers and she sent me back half as much spliced - GREAT DEAL IMO

Looking good. I'm looking for a new shaft supplier, could you give me the contact info for Oregon Mtn? Thanks

ewolf - I have 49 uncut (1 cut to 28") 60# spined shafts if those would work for you. My ACS likes the 70# spine.

Oregon Mtn Woods sell on EBAY and on the sid ea bit cheaper.

Dang pretty arrows--I love that combo. Did some red/white/blues myself several years ago (no spliced feathers)--had some candy-stripe caps on some of them--but I can't see them for squat when I shoot. Gave up on splicing feathers--took me way too long to make any that looked good. Sure are pretty though.

I generally get my shafting from Rogue River Archery--not cheap, but good. Also gotten some good shafts from Raven Archery--they grind my turkey feathers also.
