Positive info is what I hope to hear. My fingers are worn out and have almost lost my eye-sight from all the Internet research. My wife is going crazy. She said that all she hears from late eve into the wee hours of the AM, is my banging on the keyboard.

RE: How about "Palmer" custom recurves?
Hey Arthur!
You know a Bob Lee is just a SLOW Palmer....
(Arthur and I are OLD friends from another forum!!)
"C", I have had a Bob Lee and three Palmer's.
I still have my Palmer "Legend" its double carbon limbed 58" and probably the fastest bow I have. Very forgiving too.
Big East (Fedora Jr.) is my favorite bow , just a tad slower (but much better grip and looks)!
Hummingbird (ditto)
I have had:
Zipper Extreme
Sley
Predator
Sky
Martin
Bear
Fedora 560
Bruin
I like the Palmer. It is made for FF and is probably the must rugged bow out there today.
Its not the prettiest... It has a big heavy duty riser, and has an "Industrial Quality' to it. TWO big limb bolts…
But, is the bow I find I pick up most when I go hunting.
The Carbon option is alot of $$$, and really does not add any speed (or the speed is negligible).
Carbons' main properties are dampening vibrations (Quiet) and strength...(probably could use one for a pry bar)...
I would get the single carbon... you will notice very little, if any difference, and save about $150... Palmer does charge TOO MUCH for their carbon option.
I have several friends, with non carbon, and the bow is just as fast, and a real bargain at $495, make it a Classic(Gray/Brown AW), double carbon and its $740!!!!!!!
The "Legend " I have, I love , as its a discontinued model ( '01) made from real Texas Ebony and Pecan, with ebony lams on the riser with clear glass.
It s no longer made with ebony (as Mike Palmer is allergic to the ebony dust)!
The "Legend" of '03 is all Actionwood... so my Legend is kind of rare and a collectible…?
I would buy a brown Std model (Actionwood) with single carbon limbs... I think about $600-625?
Good luck

Bulldog-RI:
Music to my research-tired eyes. However, it appears it (research) was time well spent.
In comparison of prices and warranties for a high-quality "stick," the "Palmer is well in the run.
I was heavily leaning towards a machined riser because I do not like a "full" grip. However, the Palmer started taking the lead. Once I decide on the specs, I am going to talk to Palmer about a custom grip job.
Interesting comments on the limbs and carbon layers. That is the one thing I have been running over and over in my mind; trying to determine what is the overall advantage of Double Carbon (7 layer laminate) at $495.00...if any?
