Default Check Mate Longhorn

Any one have one of these or shot one? They look real cool and have my interest. Just checking for first or second hand knowledge on this bow. Also is it a Longhorn on the DB ground blind add?

throwit I have had two of the chek mate longhorns and they are very nice bows. They are a little bit more picky than a crusader because of the set back grip but still very pleasant to shoot. The look is what drew me to them also, very unique. They have a nice smooth draw and handshock is almost nonexistant with excellent speed. You can see a few pics at recurves.com good luck

I am looking at possibly adding a longhorn to my arsenal of bows. I bought my first checkmate bow a couple of weeks ago and was amazed to find the quality and performance of the attila at such a reasonable price! The longhorn's unique appearance got my attention, but the claim of little handshock got me seriously interested.
Not sure what you mean by "picky", Troy. Could you explain further?

Wabi they are a nice smooth bow but because the riser is reflexed back toward you they require consistant form. A bow with a reflexed riser will show you the errors in your shooting form faster than a deflexed riser. The only reason I sold mine is because I switched to recurves

Yep--what Troy said. I don't think I've ever drawn a bow any smoother, and very few that were as smooth. The reflexed riser gives you more speed, but the trade-off is it's not as forgiving--just goes with the design, regardless of who makes the bow.

I couldn't guarantee it, but I believe that is a Longhorn in the DB ad. One of the guys there talked to me about getting one a good while back, but we never closed the deal--guess he found one somewhere else.

LBR, it sounds like you may be a dealer for Chek-mate. You always speak so highly of them, what gives?....................Tom

PS. Who advertises on that recurve.com site?
