Asbells "Instinctive Shooting 1" Good starter on shooting.
"Trailing a Bear" by Bob Munson. Down to earth stories about his hunts with Fred Bear.
"Witchery of Archery" by Thompson. Very good book about archery hunting in the 19th century before it was popular.
Has anyone read any of Saxon Pope's books? Would you reccomend them?

Lil- thanks on that, I'll have to check the local library & see if they have Gilchrist's book. Geist has a couple more sheep books out as well that I want to read. The man is a walking encyclopedia on North American big game.
Pat- Swan's book does get easier to read. I found it a struggle at times but still an interesting read. He presents some interesting theories but it tends to replay the same message multiple times through out the book using different vocabulary. It does have some great quotes in it.

RE: Books U Have read?
while we are on this topic I have a question for those of you who use a public library.
Our public library here in Tupelo MS has numerous books listed in the card file related to hunting, fishing, and trapping. All of these books are missing except swans book. I asked the librarian what is the status of the books whether they are checked out or what, she advised that they had been stolen.
My next question is DO YOU THINK THAT THEY WERE STOLEN by persons interested in the subjects or WERE they stolen by antis?
this really bothers me due to the fact that here in MS I am noticing a great increase of PETA shirts, stickers and the yahoos that wear them.
Have any of you noticed this, also have you noticed a reduction of hunting related magazines in the grocery stores etc.....?????
