Default Counting Coup

Well, bowseason for deer opened here last Saturday (our earliest ever), & I' ve hadda blast so far. Seeing lots of deer, & have even drawn back on a couple. But IMO the yearlings are still much too young to be losing the nourishment from their mommas, & I have seen a shooter buck, so I' ve yet to loose an arrow. Having a blast tho, & sure feels great to be back out there. Anybody else hunt' n yet?

Vic,

I went out Labor Day for an evening hunt and it was so blasted hot I lost 5# of liquids just climbing up and down the tree. I' m going tomorrow, we' ve got a bit of a cool front going through. It is only in the 70s as opposed to the 90s on Labor Day.

You know anything about a Bill Stewart Multicam T/D recurve bow? I bought one today. I put the check in the mail at least. I haven' t received it yet.

Cool Vic! Shoot, we just planted some food plots last Saturday on a lease I am in on with a few friends (never thought I' d have to get in on a lease to hunt around here.......). Our seaon opens Oct. 01, which is still too dang early IMO. Lots of fawns with spots being seen, and it will still be miserable hot unless something weird happens. I wish the entire season would be pushed back a month!

Good luck, and send me pictures when you score!

Chad

I thought this was about the ' Counting Coup' article in the new issue of Traditional Bowhunter magazine. Great story.

I' ve counted coup on a couple of deer already, drawn on ' em, even though season doesn' t open here for a couple more weeks. It' s illegal to hunt deer where I' ve been seeing them anyway. Our club' s range butts up to the side of a wildlife management area.

Bill, I used to have a Bill Stewart Multicam longbow and it was sa-w-e-e-t! Never have shot one of his recurves, but if that bow is anything like the longbow I had you' re gonna like it.

Bill, I' ve never shot A Bill Stewart bow, & don' t know anything about ' em really, except the ppl that have really seem to love ' em. Chad, I' ll prolly wait a month or so before I shoot anything, unless ole Mosseyhorns happens by. Either way I' ll sure as heck send a pic (if I can remember to take one). John, this is the earliest ours has opened, & it' s too early IMO & there is a trade-off ' cause Ky DNR keeps adding more gun seasons later, after it has cooled off. Arthur, unreal feeling isn' t it? ...knowing all you need do is relax your fingers & deer is dead. Almost as much of a rush as actually completing the shot to me!
Well, temps are supposed to drop into the 70s next week, so that' s a good thing. I may start going back out then...but I still won' t shoot a doe till later. Happy hunting you guys!

I' m going out for a morning hunt tomorrow. Where I hunt I' ll only be able to shoot a buck, until Monday! After that, I can shoot 2 deer of either sex per day.

Arthur P,

Thanks for the feedback. I think I' m going to like it, too. The only thing that has me concerned is its length, 56" . I' m trying to negotiate a trade of my 14" riser for an 18" riser. That would yield a 60" bow for me and would be more to my liking.
