The boys 65' Kodiak Magnum
Well the boy has been wanting a Longbow or Recurve for a while and we picked one out today! Actually I'm pretty jealous because he got a pretty sweet bow.... We have to wait a few days for it to arrive but I'm thinking it'll be worth it! He has a 22" DL what kind of arrows should I be looking for spine wise, I really have no idea on this one???

I would think 1816's would be alright if your going with aluminum. As kid's my brother and I were shooting these all the time and from what I can remember they flew just fine with our draw weights being real low and draw lengths being on the short side. Should be interesting to see what others say.

Take the bow's marked draw weight and divide by 20. That will give you a good approximation of the pounds per inch to subtract for shorter draws or add for longer draws.
43/20 = 2.15
28-22 = 6
2.15 X 6 = 12.9
The bow will be drawing right at 30 lbs for him. So, I'd say 1716's and cut them to 24" w/ 100 gn tips.

Beautiful bow! eBay is loaded with these beautiful, classic, FULLY functional 'shooters!' I just got one and am now looking at adding a 2nd for my 17 yr old daughter so we can shoot traditional together in our yard! Mucho fun!

I just came in from shooting my Kodiak Magnum. I haven't shot traditional in I'll bet 10 yrs - yet my VERY first shot with a Judo point from a backyard treestand instinctively came within 2 inches of tennis ball I use! I had to make 1 simple 1/8" adjustment to my nocking point and walla - done!
I haven't been able to accomplish that with ANY of the compounds I ever shot in my career!
Shooting traditional IS simply one of THE best ways to shoot a bow!

Well the bow arrived a bit ago and what a work of Art!!!! This bow is flawless and all original! The bow looks brand new right out of the box! It has one small scratch on the side of the limb that took some looking to find! Just waiting on a custom string to arrive in a day or so and were off to the range for some shooting and pics! All that this bow needs is another one like it in the 50# range!
