I'm looking at a Browning Nomad, 54 inch. I have a 30 inch draw with a recurve. I had been looking for a 62+ inch bow, but the Nomad appears to be designed to work at a shorter length. Is this bow going to work for me?

Most likely it will stack like the devil on you. At best, it will be real finicky with release and/or arrow spine and/or brace height and/or nock point and/or silencer placement, etc.

There are some short bows designed to handle a longer draw (the 56" Chek-Mate Firebird will handle 30&quot, but as I was told, everthing is a trade-off. Some 62" bows weren't made for a 30" draw--that is the curse those of use with more than a 28-29" draw have to deal with. On the other hand, we do get great cast--lol.

The Browning will probably stack, which is loading the weight unevenly, usually increasing at a higher rate per inch of draw, than it normally would at a lesser draw length. The shorter bows, especially the older ones, will also pinch the fingers, which causes release problems, which causes accuracy problems, which causes frustration in the archer, which causes, well, you get the picture. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I'd suggest going with a bow 62&quot; long and even then, some bows just aren't meant to be shot by someone with a draw that exceeds 28-29&quot;. The Martin Hunter is one 62&quot; bow that will stack for a draw exceeding 29&quot;. On the other hand, there are some shorter bows that are designed to be very forgiving to longer draw lengths. Take your time and get a bow that is right for you, your shooting style and needs. You'll be glad that you did.

are you shooting recurves/longbows currently? or are you converting from a compound? the reason i ask is because some have expereinced a shorter draw length after switching. your 30&quot; draw on a compound may be 28&quot; on a recurve.

The Shakespear is a magnesium handle takedown, they don't give the model. It might be too ugly to buy.

I have a Martin x200 that is 25# and 60 inches. It is quite hard to hold at full draw, much harder than my 60#, 50% letoff compound, so I think it is stacking. I shoot 32&quot; arrows out of the compound and about an inch sticks out past the riser. So based on these two bows, I'm thinking that my draw with a hunting recurve will be about 30&quot;.
