RE: The "Perfect" Quiver
I have a Raptor side quiver. I like it for still hunting but hate it for 3-D shooting. It's a pain to load arrows. I have a side quiver from Art Vincent for 3-D and love it. No good for hunting though. I have a German Ridge bow quiver love it for carrying arrows out to the tree stand. Hate it when I have to shoot with it on the bow. Perfect quiver? I'm still looking. Sort of like looking for the fountain of youth or the Lost Dutchman's Mine. Dick

RE: The "Perfect" Quiver
I agree there is no perfect quiver for ALL needs. The Selways work well enough, but can be a bit bulky from a traditional standpoint. I use 'em though.
I never did get the hang of back quivers for serious hunting. They sure look good and carry well however.
Side quivers can be effective... if you learn how to move through brush with them. They require too much attention for my taste.
If you don't mind drilling a couple of holes in your riser and placing a couple of bushings, the Kwikee Kwiver is hard to beat. You can carry it on the bow and take it off at will, plus you can buy quivers whcih hold as few as three or as many as 6-8 arrows. The Kwikee is about as close to an "all-around" a quiver as you can get.
The Great Northern is second to none, wraps snugly to your riser and is trim looking on most bows. I don't own a GN, but wish I did!
If I HAD to have one quiver only, it would probably be the Kwikee, but the one I use the most is my Selway 4 arrow bow quiver with a rawhide cover (for asthetics of course ) even though I prefer to shoot a bow without a quiver. Ground hunting is my usual tactic and there is something to be said for having your "weapon" and "ammunition" in one package.

My sheep and moose pics have the Chief in it. I am not wearing it though. Here is the link

Tower,
550 cord is Parachute cord. 7 strand nylond covered 550pounds breaking strength. If you get the 5 strand its 350 if I remember right. 100 mile tape is what you are thinking duct tape. I'll have to get a picture for you tomorrow nite with the Gn and 550 cord set up. Basically its just tied onto both strap mounts and also to a spot on the main metal rod going front to back to hold it in the right position on my side and it sits just like my Chief.

RE: The "Perfect" Quiver
Dang it Lil, every time I go to your photo album, I want to start packing to head to Alaska. You are truely blessed to be able to enjoy that every day.
I like the looks of the quiver, but here is my stupid question. What is the "extension" of the tube horizonally? An accessory pouch? And, there must be some sort of foam in the bottom to keep your broadheads from bangin' around in it?
I want to make a quiver that would be similar to the one you have, but I have to figure out how I can protect the broadheads from tearing up everything in the bottom of the quiver. Im thinking foam or something along those lines.

RE: The "Perfect" Quiver
Lil, I was speaking in riddles. I am well aware of 550 cord, it is a mainstay for keeping track of all sorts of my military equipment. We used to tie a length of it to each of our belt and rucksack accessories as well as use it for boot laces. As an infantry scout we never ran out of uses for the cord, usually we ran out of it! What I had ment to say was I have used it more than I have 100 mile hour tape, not that we don't use the dickens out of that commodity as well. I will be looking forward to the pic's. Thanks,
Vern Pratt
P.S.
I no longer tread the night,
I am now a military police NCO.

To know the answers just listen for his word. God bless you all.

Kip,
Its a fleece pouch attached with a nylon strech cord that goes over the end of your arrows. And yes there is a hunk of foam down in the bottom. You pull it out for 3/target shooting. I prefer a backquiver for 3ds or targets and small game hunting. Jay Campbell has a deal in the upper section (towards the feathers) that holds the arrows away from eachother. A hunk of foam with slits cut it in if I remember right. I like the idea, just havent done it yet. Dean Torges's page has some good info on the chief and some great pictures. Some of which I believe he is actually wearing his in the photo album section.
As for the hunting, your dang skippy! If you get the urge, let me know! Caribou, moose, sitka deer, or black bear, its all fair game for ya. If I cant go I can atleast help steer ya in the right direction!
Tower,
Sorry to insult your intelligence. I guess I wasnt much for a morse code operator <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>! Been busy twisting and doing honey do's just thought I'd drop in...we are going to get them tonite before we hit the rack. I'll have the posted in the Am. Sorry for the delay!
