Born hunter?
I have a short story to tell that may bend your funny bone. I have been deployed with the Michigan National Guard to Washington D.C. since March so my wife has had to fill in for me during "Daddy time" with my son. Well to begin my wife took my son to her parents home in rural Michigan where they were shooting bows with her father. As is usually the case the adults wanted to take a break but the boy didn't. So they let my son continue to practice while they stepped into the house (not the best of decisions but that is past). My wife and her dad had not been in the house long when my son approached his mom and asked if she would get his arrow for him. It is not unusual for him to put one into the wood lot from time to time so the question was not unexpected. My wife said she would but asked him where it was. With a straight face (as relayed by my wife) he said, "it is in a rabbit". Of course the wife did not believe him and said she would be outside in a minute to get it for him. Much to her shock his arrow was indeed in a rabbit and the rabbit was in the briar patch. My wife was so shocked and upset that she called me via the cell phone and told me the story; not only did she tell me she demanded I do something about it . Now I was in a pickle. I asked her if the rabbit was dead to which she responded with a "I don't know and I aint touching it". Then I asked her if she had scolded my son, no she hadn't, she didnt know what to say. To end it I talked with my son and told him good shot but that he was not to shoot animals unless hunting with Daddy or Grandpa, he understood that. Then I told the wife to finish off the rabbit and retrieve it, I'm sure this didnt happen. My son was very upset with his mom because he wanted to get his arrow, rabbit, and then eat the rabbit, to which is a whole other story. By the way did I mention my son is six years old and he stalked the rabbit! I am going to ask him for pointers when I get home.
P.S.
Mom learned a lesson that day too.
That and the fact she is going to
have to eat small game in the not
too distant future.
shoot straight, aim well,
and tell tall tales to
good friends.

hehehe, great story. Thanks for sharing it with us. No doubt, your son is a natural born bowhunter. Tell em ol' Mike said save him a piece of the backstrap.
Make em sharp and shoot em straight, or leave em home.

I hope your girls aren't as good an aim as your son, or your wife will be wanting to shoot me with the bows I'm sending. Thanks for the kind words!
