Default The Orangutan

She's long, stout, and yellow/orange--my new osage orange selfbow my buddy Kevin Brennan from KY made for me, and delivered at the Tennesse Classic at Twin Oaks last weekend--I love it!

72" long (nock to nock), 65@30, built just for me. Deer antler tip overlays with a deer antler arrow rest set into the riser. Absolutely butter smooth to draw--actually much smoother than almost any laminated bow I've ever drawn. It's a good bit slower than my Crusader, but no slouch. Some handshock, but much less than some laminated longbows I've shot, and not enough to inflame my tender elbow. I have to get some arrows that better match it, but so far I've shot it pretty well. Can't wait to properly christen it on a critter! Got it dressed with a leather grip, bright orange Dynaflight string (with yellow padding in the loops), green Halo serving, and green/orange/yellow cat whisker silencers (a blind man could find this bow in a cave at midnight).

This is the first selfbow I've ever owned that was built to handle my draw length--and it's really changed my opinion on selfbows. Might have to try and scratch one out myself one of these days........

I'll get some pictures, but someone will have to post them for me--I don't have an account with any of those picture sites.

Any volunteers?

Chad

I have my camera loaned out right now (forgot about that), but I'll get it back soon and get some pictures taken.
