Default Wood Choices

Will be ordering a new longbow this weekend and dont know much about the different woods used. The ones I'm looking at are all withing 20-$50 of each other ( except osage ). The woods are: ash , hickory, epe & bubinga. The one I had my eye on is bamboo backed bubinga. However, bubinga is not offered in reflex/deflex. Those come in the others listed. Could somone with knowledge of these wood explain the pro's & con's of each ? Pretty psyched to be getting a longbow. Been shooting my recurve at least 3 times a week for the past yr & half. Also , what will be the most noticeable difference when I finally get my longbow ?

Rudderbows of hickory bamboo are the best, That is the one I use all the time and take large hogs, 1 Bear and 1 bison and it is only #50 .
For the price you can't go wrong with it.

The recurve I shoot is 40#@28". Have no problem with the weight as I have been shooting with it for awhile now. It was given to me so didnt have the option of ordering for draw length. My compound draw is 29, so what should I order this one for ? As far as weight I'm gonna go with 55#.

I personally like Snakewood, Walnut, Cocabola, Bocate, and a few others... Bubinga is nice too....

The average size man between 5'8' and 5'11" has a draw of 28" on a traditional bow.
You might want to check that by going to a store like sports authority they have a bow drawmeasuring device.
