RE: Good reason to shoot feathers
Ford vs. Chevy
PC vs. Mac
Feathers vs. Vanes
Everybody has their preferences. They choose them for one reason or another, based on their experiences, and their take on the plusses and minuses of each type of fletch.
As for me, I am a convert. I used to shoot nothing but feathers but last year, with the release of the Blazer vanes, I have gone to the side of the plastic birds.
From and asthetics standopint, I still think feathers make the nicest looking arrows. Barred feathers just do it for me.
That being said, for hunting purposes, I have switched to Blazer vanes. After having been on 2 paid hunts in the pouring rain I will stick with the fletch that is water PROOF, as opposed to water resistent.
