Default Do I ask too much out of equipment?

I know many of you here rag on me for being so picky and swapping accesories like underwear there for a while. I just want to get to get the most out of my equipment, and be completely happy with what I take to the woods each fall. If an accessorie doesn't meet my standards, and I'm not happy with it, than I will worry about it all season. I don't like to have to worry about equipment failing in the field. This is why I am so picky. From experience, if its not doing the job in the backyard, it will get mutilated in the deer woods.
Do you think I am expecting too much? Should I just settle for something, and live with it?

I am totally confident in my setup this year and wont touch a thing, and to tell the truth, probably wont touch anything for a long time. I like what I got finally, and its a shooter.

Nah , I dont think your being too picky. I'm the same way with my equipment. I would feel better saying the opposite , I wish more hunters would be a little more picky about what they slap on their bow.
Muzzy , look on the bright side , guys like you and I could ban together and open up a archery gadget shop with what we have in our gadget boxes<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey muzzyman, I thought this forum was where you ask questions about all the things that go into shooting a bow and the equipement you need to acomplish that goal without spending a fortune to experiment. Then I saw guys crusifing you about all your questions and the search for items that would help you shoot better and decided to be careful about how much help I ask for. Thoese spikes probably hurt when they drive them thru your hands and feet.<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

OOPS! forgot, no you are not asking to much out of your equipement. I forgot to answer your question before I got off the soap box.<img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

You Too Picky? You? Honestly? Absolutly NOT!! I hate to say ,but I am the same way. For the money some companies are charging for products they should perform the way they were meant to Look at that Pendulum site you and I bought (sniper) we were both unhappy I don't know if you know but I did get Toxonics to exchange for a Hybrid IV. And Kudos to them. I say either get your money back or give the company a chance to make it right. Not all products work for everyone. But I hate the ones that don't work for anyone. Good Luck Hunting this year.

Lots of us like to experiment with new equipment and with changing settings. How do we know we are shooting our best unless we're confident the equipment is exactly what we need? The weekly question when I show up for our Sunday morning 3D shoot is, &quot;what did you change this week?&quot; <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Some people are just the opposite. One of the guys I frequently shoot with is absolutely petrified by the thought of changing anything about his equipment or settings. Last year he was having trouble getting his broadheads to group with his field points and refused to try anything because his field tips grouped so well for him and he didn't want to touch the bow. I finally talked him into letting me tune his bow for the best broadhead flight. After the first couple changes, the arrows were actually flying worse (not too uncommon). He came unglued and yelled that he should have never let me touch his bow. I thought he was going to have a baby, right there. After I calmed him down, I proceeded to get the bow tuned so the broadheads grouped with the field tips. He relaxed and felt very good about his bow, but try to touch it now, for any reason, and I'm sure he'll have twins.

About this time of the year I will stick with what I have until the season opens (one month), but come January, I'm sure I'll be experimenting some more.

MM88 I dont think you should settle for anything unless you are 100% satisfied (sp) with it.
Besides that if you dont ask question you are not going to learn anything.
Plus without people asking questions there would not be a tech forum.

Have a good season

nothin wrong with being &quot;picky&quot;, but if my memory serves me correctly, one week you were claiming xxyz rest was the best and the next week it was xyz rest was the best, and the next week it was yzxx was the best.......blah blah blah . don`t get me wrong, i`m &quot;picky&quot; too , but give things a chance..... in case you haven`t &quot;read&quot;it before, &quot;its the shooter, not the gizmo that makes the score or fills the freezer&quot;. if you spent, the same amount of time practicing as you do on the diferent boards you would see results. even with a $15 rest and a $200 bow......quit your flappin and try shootin, stop looking
for an excuse. if you can`t shoot,.... well you can`t shoot.... be humble. our club is full of your kind. you saddeled her.... now you gotta ride her. good luck

At a local shoot about 18 years ago someone said to one guy that his string looked pretty fuzzy. He said that yes he probably should buy some wax for it as it was the original string. Well at the time that bow was about 15 years old! He was not the picky kind.
