I've bareshaft tuned with a compound and release. It's just as much a tuning method for that style as it is for traditional shooters. The idea behind it is that fletching will correct a poorly tuned arrow and make if fly straight. Bareshafting is seeing what the arrow will do without correction. I've shot great bareshaft groups out to 35 yards with a compound and release.
One trick to it is to weigh your fletches and find out how much tape it would take to equal the weight of the fletching you usually use. Then wrap that exact amount of tape around the bareshaft where the fletching is supposed to be. That will give you pretty much the same FOC as your fletched arrows. It's best to keep your FOC apples to apples when bareshafting.
